    The storm the other night did some spectacular dam The storm the other night did some spectacular damage to the park with eleven large trees down, seven of which cross our paths. There is a tree down across the fence north of te main gate, another down across the main trail north of the bird feeder,. Two are down at the five trail corner, two more across the east west trail just north of the mowed field, and another on the trail that runs parallel to the road by the MODS field. Most of these are too much for my axe and bucksaw so the City Parks Crew will be notified. They can use chainsaws in a city park. we can't. On a bright note, two massive trees went down by the puppy/training pen but managed to miss all the trails and the fence! Lorne Volk Maple Grove Dog Park Board and Beleaguered Park's Dogsbody.

    Apologies to anyone who planed to join us on Satur Apologies to anyone who planed to join us on Saturday (march 21st) but due to the weather we have decided to postpone the park clean up day till the *28th* of march. Come and join us the *28th* and help make the park a cleaner place. As those of you that frequent the park know, people get a little lazy in the winter and the poops pile up, now that its starting to warm up the hidden "gems" are starting to show themselves. We need all the help we can get to make our park as clean as possible, so come and help out. hot chocolate and coffee will be a available and everyone who helps out has a chance to win a doggy themed prize. Buckets and garbage bags will be provided but this party is BYOS, bring your own shovel 🤣.

Each ornament is $7, with $3 going directly back to maintaining and improving Maple Grove Park. These lightweight, wooden ornaments measure approx. 9.5 x 7 cm (3.75 x 3 in.) Your ornament will be personalized with your dog's name laser-engraved into it, and finished with a protective clear coat. Samples are posted on the bulletin board at the dog park. There will be two pick up dates: one at the AGM 1. 6:15 pm, December 3rd at the AGM, Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota 2. 11 am to 1 pm on December 21st, at the dog park under the gazebo.     Renee' Gould has contacted us and our friends at K Renee' Gould has contacted us and our friends at Kilcona Dog Park have a request: I would like to post a request. Would the dog owners of Maple Grove like to help us out at Kilcona Dog Park? We need signatures on the petition to stop a road going through our park. Your signature would be greatly appreciated. https://chng.it/nvHQydPDtY I've been out of country until yesterday morning so I just heard about this on the news. There is a multimillion dollar development plan to deal with the infrastructure of Kilcona Park which will reduce access for dog owners to much of the property they currently use. In the case of Kilcona the lines as to what the intended dog park boundaries were, and what the functional boundaries are, have been quite blurred. Regardless of original intent the fact of the matter is that Winnipeg has only about 20 Dog Parks for a population 954 00 people and about 100 000 dogs. Compare that with Calgary: Population 1.8 million, over 140 000 dogs (2016, much more by now) and 160 off leash dog parks. The City of Winnipeg is great at supporting existing parks but unbelievably recalcitrant concerning attempts to develop new parks. Boy, I can tell you some stories about setting up Maple Grove!     Hi everyone, Our good neighbours the MODS (Manito Hi everyone, Our good neighbours the MODS (Manitoba Organization of Disc Sports) is starting their spring season and sent us this message: "As we haven't yet been able to meet or share a calendar yet, I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the May and June dates we have major events. League starts this Sunday, May 3. Sunday thru Thursday evenings our park will be busy from 4pm-9pm each day with people arriving up to 30min before. Our "busy" weekends will be the following: May 3 May 10 May 23/24/25 May 30/31/June 1 June 21/22 July 19/20 August 22/23/24 Our registration numbers are up across the board this year but we are trying to leave at least two of our fields empty each night to try not to overwhelm the park." So let's mark these dates on the calendar, but we have always got along well. Let's try to keep our dogs from "subbing in" to the matches! -Maple Grove Dog Park 🐕🌳

Please only take what you need, if you are in need. There are also bags available in the box in the big field. We thank our current park users who are saving their bread/bun/produce plastic bags and adding them to the box - you guys are fabulous! We encourage more park users to do the same.
